Cancer is Serious Business
What does it take to get the FDA to approve your cancer treatment? Unless you are a big pharmaceuticals company, it takes a long, intriguing legal battle. At least, that was the experience of Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski. He recently won his battle with the FDA for is gene-targeted cancer medicine, but it was one of the most difficult battles in modern history. His story is outlined in this documentary.
Dr. Burzynski believed that gene-targeted therapy hold a solution to non-treatable cancers, and his medication, discovered in the 1970s, is called antineoplastons. These completed Phase II FDA-supervised clinical trials in 2009 and may soon be in the open cancer treatment market. The final phases of testing were scheduled to begin in 2011.
If Antineoplastons are able to make it to approval, it will be the first time in the history of modern medicine that one scientist, not a multi-million dollar company, holds the patent to a life saving medical breakthrough. These medications hold the power to cure some of the most difficult cancers, including childhood brainstem glioma, which has never had a cure. This film looks at several cancer survivors that opted for this treatment over traditional, invasive treatments, which shows just how effective it is.
Getting this close to approval took 14 years, but Dr. Burzynski eventually won the right to offer this cure. Those who watch this video will be intrigued at the true motivations behind the government’s prosecution of this brilliant researcher.
